the remainder wood project #1: the sandpit

With the remainder wood of our square foot containers, we have a list of projects to finish.
Here's number 1: the sandpit.
The bottom is also a leftover from the construction of our rainwater pit. In this piece of wood, there were two holes (where the pipes for the rainwater were connected). So we had to be a little bit creative to work around those holes (I know, we just could've attached a piece of wood on top of them).
Thomas made a bench with different sections over it. The two middle sections form a bench to cover the holes. The two side sections are "secret" compartiments to fill with sand and/or toys.
In the two other corners there are two more benches.

The sandpit has little legs, so it's raised from the floor. For now, it's still standing in the grass, but as soon as our patio is finished we'll move it to there. There's more shadow on the (future) patio.
But to prevent the patio floor from growing moldy, we raised it a little.

This is part 1 of the sand pit. I remember the fun I had in the old play ground of the Provinciaal Domein in Kessel-Lo, where there were a lot of toys in the sandpit: a pulley, a crane, ...
So one day we'll extend this sand pit with an extra module. But for now, our 1,5 year old boy will have lots of fun the way it is now.
